Vuelopedia has published its Q4 2026 IVCA airline ranking, placing Qatar Airways first among 178 airlines from 72 countries.

Turkish Airlines ranked second, followed by Singapore Airlines, Air France and Cathay Pacific. Saudia, ANA, Delta Air Lines, Japan Airlines and Emirates completed the global top 10.

The ranking gives each airline a single score out of 100. Qatar Airways scored 90.4, ahead of Turkish Airlines on 89.8 and Singapore Airlines on 86.2.

It is based on 14 indicators across three pillars: operations and fleet, passenger experience, and network and track record. Passenger experience carries the greatest weight at 48%, followed by operations and fleet at 32% and network and track record at 20%.

The latest edition uses version 2.5 of the methodology. Changes include the addition of wide-body fleet and independent environmental certification as indicators, greater weighting for punctuality, and an assessment of each airline's frequent-flyer programme.

Regional leaders

Outside the global top 10, the ranking also named the leading carrier in each region. Turkish Airlines led Europe, Delta Air Lines North America, LATAM Latin America, Qantas Oceania and Ethiopian Airlines Africa.

In Vuelopedia's continental table, Qatar Airways was the leading airline in Asia, with Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific completing the regional top three.

Delta Air Lines was the only US carrier in the global top 10, placing eighth with a score of 81.7. United Airlines and Air Canada followed in the North American ranking with 79.7 and 79.4 respectively.

In Latin America, LATAM led with 79.1, ahead of Aeroméxico on 74.3 and Copa Airlines on 69.8. Vuelopedia also highlighted Copa Airlines and Aeroméxico for punctuality, citing on-time rates of 90.75% and 90.02% respectively in 2025 listings.

Qantas placed 11th globally with a score of 80.7, making it the highest-ranked airline in Oceania. Ethiopian Airlines, the top carrier in Africa, ranked 25th worldwide with 75.3.

European showing

Europe featured strongly near the top of the table. Turkish Airlines ranked first in the region and second worldwide, while Air France placed fourth globally and second in Europe.

British Airways ranked 12th in the world and was named the best airline in the United Kingdom. Iberia came 17th globally and was the leading airline in Spain, while Lufthansa ranked 20th and topped Germany.

Air France and KLM also benefited from the strength of Flying Blue, which Vuelopedia ranked as the world's best frequent-flyer programme with a score of 93.9. Air Canada Aeroplan, American AAdvantage and United MileagePlus followed.

Alliance and airport tables

The ranking also covered alliances and airports. Star Alliance was rated the world's best airline alliance with a score of 85.4, ahead of Oneworld on 60.9 and SkyTeam on 55.8.

Among airports, İstanbul Airport topped a separate ranking with a score of 78.4. Hamad International Airport and London Heathrow Airport completed the top three in a table Vuelopedia described as a work in progress covering 557 airports.

Transparent method

A distinguishing feature of the IVCA ranking is that Vuelopedia publishes the weights, indicators and airline-level figures behind each score. Each airline profile shows the data points used, their individual scores and the weighting applied to them.

The methodology is versioned and reproducible, allowing each edition to be recalculated. The ranking is updated every quarter.

In its breakdown of the top performers, Vuelopedia pointed to a mix of punctuality, onboard product assessments, network breadth and fleet factors. It said Qatar Airways combined high ratings for international onboard experience with a five-star certified product and an on-time rate of 84.42%.

For Turkish Airlines, Vuelopedia cited a network of 352 destinations across six continents, as well as a leading onboard experience standing. Singapore Airlines, which ranked third, was described as the passenger favourite and held a five-star product rating.

Saudia, in sixth place, was identified as one of the edition's standout movers, supported by an on-time figure of 86.53% and a top-tier onboard experience rating. Air France and Delta Air Lines rounded out the top 10 with strong network positions and established alliance links.

"For the first time, any reader can see, figure by figure, why an airline stands where it stands. That is the transparency we want for aviation rankings," the Vuelopedia Editorial Team said.

"Qatar, Turkish, Singapore, Air France and Cathay Pacific do not win on reputation: they win on punctuality, certified product, wide-body fleet and network, measured with the same yardstick for all 178 airlines," the Vuelopedia Editorial Team said.
